Well after the hustle and bustle of Hallowe’en, the children didn’t get much time to rest this week.
Tuesday the 28th saw Emily Love from the PATCH project visit the Primary 4-7 pupils, Emily provides a program where the children are encouraged to talk about big emotions, boundaries and friendships amongst other things, she will be visiting a few more times over the year.
The Parent Council was a huge hit as always, the children had an amazing night and we would like to extend a big thank you to all involved for providing such a great experience for the children.
We also had a visit from Dino the dinosaur on Hallowe’en, the children have become expectant of Dino’s unruly and cheeky behaviours when he visits – running around the classroom, throwing sweeties and teaching us all a dance… As always, the pupils loved this visit and the sweet treats that were provided, hopefully we’ll see him and Anna again soon.
With the weekend bringing bonfires and fireworks with it, the children were very tired at the beginning of the week but there was no time for rest as we were off to the science centre.
An early start and heading out of Glassary by 8am – Glassary and Tayvallich pupils in tow – we were off.
This was an excellent opportunity for everyone involved. P1-3 were treated to a morning in the planetarium where they explored our galaxy and the solar system. At the same time, P4-7 attended an ‘Electric Detective’ workshop in the Education Lab at the Science Center, a variety of experiments were provided where the children were detecting the conductivity of different materials and creating circuits.
Our group was 1 of 13 other schools in the Center on this day, as well as being open to the public, and the children were an absolute credit to their parents and staff. Their manners, their enthusiasm, their respect and overall enjoyment were something for us all to be proud of!
I will do my best to upload a gallery of photos from our trip, however, last time I tried to upload a photo I broke the entire website so we will just have to see how I get on!
Upcoming Dates for the Diary
The next few weeks are fairly quiet for the time being, please keep an eye on the online calendar for any updates:
Friday the 14th will be a themed day in school as this week marks ‘Anti-bullying week’ across schools, the children across Craignish and Glassary will be taking part in a ‘be a hero day’, the 14th is also Children In Need 2025 and the day will be celebrated with appropriate activities.
Options for the day:
– dress up as a super hero
– wear something spotty
– wear pyjamas
Please note that we are not accepting any cash donations this year. For the last couple of years we have set up a ‘Just Giving’ link that you can donate through. Please note that although it will direct you to Tayvallich’s platform, this page is set up for Glassary’s donation collection. Many thanks in advance for any donations that you choose to make.
Glassary Primary School is fundraising for BBC Children in Need
School plays – we have opted this year to run 2 short school plays, one for the P5-7 pupils and one for the P1-4 pupils, this allows us to create roles and stories that are appropriate for a wider range of pupils, it also allows for younger pupils to have larger roles if they so wish. The plays will begin rehearsing during class-time over the coming weeks, your child may have a script sent home with them to practice their lines, it would be brilliant if families could find some time to run over these with their children as every bit of practice will help build their confidence. Both plays will run one after the other on the day of the play in December. Again, more info to follow regarding time and date, please check the online calendar for further updates.
Reports will be issued on the week beginning the 17th of November.
There is a teacher in-service day on Monday 24th of November, no children will be attending school on this day.
The next Curriculum Cafe will be held on Monday the 1st of December from 2:30pm-3:15pm, all family members are welcome to attend, for example if the children wish their Grandparent to attend this is wholly welcomed.
