I hope that you had a relaxed and refreshing Easter break and that the children are looking forward to the new term.

I cannot believe that it will soon be a year since I was appointed to be Head Teacher at Glassary. The time has flown by!

It is a long term ahead; 11 weeks until we finish for the summer holiday at the end of June. However, we have a lot of exciting things to pack in as well as three four-day weeks, with a Bank Holiday for the Coronation of King Charles on Monday May 8th, a staff Inservice day on Friday May 26th and a holiday on Monday May 29th.

It is very hard to believe that this is the start of the last term at Primary School for our 5 P7s before they head to Lochgilphead High School. There are lots of transition activities planned for them between now and then to make sure that they are fully prepared for their big move.

Interviews for our class teacher vacancy take place on Tuesday 18th April.

Our second Street Drumming session takes place for our P4 to 7s on Friday 21st and we are very much looking forward to welcoming the brilliant tutor Martin back. You can see the photos from the first session in the Gallery section.

Further away, we are delighted that our P5, 6 and 7 pupils will have the opportunity to take part in floating classroom workshops with the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust on Wednesday 26th April. These will take place on the vessel Silurian which will be docked at Ardfern; more information to follow.

From this week on my weekly updates will move to being fortnightly; this will be the case until my teaching commitment reduces again.

This week, we are also issuing this term’s parental feedback survey and we look forward to hearing your views on how we are doing as a school. We will soon be working on our improvement priorities for next session and your feedback will be very important in shaping this work.

As always, please do not hesitate to get in touch if you need to.
