Dear families

I can hardly believe that this is the last update from me of the school year. I have been looking back through the website posts and am amazed by all that we have achieved as a school. I am really looking forward to starting my second year as your Head Teacher in August.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff at Glassary for going above and beyond this year to provide so many amazing learning opportunities for our children.

Reports

I have also been reading through all of the end of year reports for the children before they come home to you this week. The children really have all made amazing progress with their learning this session, as you will see. Please look out for envelopes in bags. Where two parents require separate reports, we will arrange this as usual.

School Photos

Mr Carter managed to take pictures of all pupils on Friday last week.

This week, we will email you a Jpeg of the photo(s) of your child/children and you can then get prints using a company of your choice, if you wish.

Staffing

I am delighted to announce that following competitive interviews, we have made the following appointment:

  • Mr George Grundy has been appointed to the post of Additional Support Needs Assistant and will start in post on 11th August. He has been doing hours in the role on supply but we are delighted that he will now have a contract for the session 2023-24.
  • Mr Voinot had to bring his leaving date forward to Friday 23rd May due to unforeseen circumstances. We wish him all the best for the future.
  • We will be saying farewell to Mrs Bolwell at our end of term assembly on Thursday this week. Please see below and let me know if you plan to attend.

P4 Trip to the Beaver Centre.

Once again the sun shone for this trip and the P4s had the most wonderful time learning about the habitat and bio-diversity around Barnluasgan. There was lots of red squirrel activity, garden birds, woodpeckers and mice but sadly no beavers…The children were very well mannered and polite during our trip, and Mrs McClymont and Mr Voinot said that it was a pleasure to go with them. You can check out the photos here: https://www.glassary.argyll-bute.sch.uk/p4-trip-to-the-beaver-centre/

P7 Leavers

It was lovely to celebrate and say farewell to our P7s on Friday 23rd June. We will miss them very much but know that they have been excellent role models for the P6s who will be stepping into their shoes in August. You can check out the photos of the afternoon here: https://www.glassary.argyll-bute.sch.uk/farewell-to-our-p7s/

Reminder – new lunch ordering and payment system

We are delighted that so many of you have registered to order and/or pay for lunches with Ipayimpact. This system has been rolled out in many schools across the authority and made paying and ordering so much easier.

Please be aware that until after the summer, starter and pudding choices will not be available online but pupils will be able to choose these in school.

If you are experiencing any issues, please check out the Frequently Asked Questions here http://www.glassary.argyll-bute.sch.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/I-Payimpact-Frequently-asked-questions-for-families
