Week beginning 27th November

This a brief update from me after what was a very busy week last week. I am immeasurably proud of the pupils, staff and wider school community of Tayvallich Primary School, our partner school, for engaging in such a positive way with their HMIE Inspection process last week. Our visitors got a very clear picture of our school and will now take account of all that they saw and heard and report back early in the New Year. Much of the learning from the inspection process will be very relevant to the work we do in Glassary to support our children’s learning. If you want to know more about the inspection process you can check out the Inspection and review documentation pages of Education Scotland’s website.

The week in Glassary

When I went into Glassary on Friday afternoon, I was very impressed to see some evidence of the amazing work and learning that had taken place in both of our classrooms. In Social Subjects, P1 to 4 have been travelling to even more countries Around the World and P5,6 and 7 have been creating art relating to their Natural Disasters topic. You can check this out in the gallery here: https://www.glassary.argyll-bute.sch.uk/natural-disasters-artwork/

I was also very impressed to see some extremely high quality news reports relating to Literacy and Writing that some of our P5 to 7 pupils have produced this week. These are displayed on the Literacy Wall. Please ask your child about this; if their work is on the wall, you will also be able to see it on his/her Seesaw account.

Coming up.

We are almost into December and will soon be looking to Christmas and other winter celebrations.

We have been discussing plans for drama and music performances this session and had some really great feedback from the pupils about what they would like to do. We have decided that we are going to have our main school show after the Christmas break so that we can take longer to plan and rehearse; plus, we will have something to look forward to when we come back in January.

We will also have a Christmas showcase on the afternoon of Friday 22nd December where we will offer a selection of Christmas themed songs, poems and drama scenes. I will be issuing a Google Form to find out what time will suit most of you to come and see it, based around your work, other commitments and transport arrangements. Ticket numbers will be limited to 2 per family in the first instance, due to space considerations.

Parent Council Christmas Tree Sale

Our wonderful Parent Council has organised a Christmas Tree Sale on Saturday 2nd December where you will be able to pick up your Christmas tree, whilst also helping to raise funds for the Parent Council and school. The sale will start at 10am and trees will be sold until they are all gone.

For information about all other planned school events this term and in the New Year, please remember to check our calendar on the website, which you can also find by clicking here:

Report Feedback forms

Many thanks to those of you who have returned the parent and pupil feedback forms that were issued with reports last Monday. Can I please request that if you have not yet done this, you do so as soon as possible.

Have a fantastic Monday with no school and you know where I am, if you need anything.
