Our Children Their Future

You will know that the local authority recently refreshed our Vision for Education and our aims for what we want our education setting to do and be for all of our children.

Last week I showed you a wonderful video related to this on the Our Children Their Future Education social media accounts and this week we have another where you may spot some familiar faces:

Argyll and Bute Council’s Education Service | It’s vital that our service aligns with the council’s broader vision. We discussed with Douglas Hendry, Executive Director for Education,… | Instagram

We will be sharing more information about the new document over the coming months and you can access it here: http://www.glassary.argyll-bute.sch.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/AB_OurChildrenTheirFuture.pdf

World of Work – part 1

On Monday we were very fortunate to have Katherine McKerral, one of our wonderful parents, join our assembly. She talked about her work as a Building Standards Surveyor and her journey to becoming one. It was really interesting to learn about all that she does to make sure that buildings in Argyll and Bute are safe and up to the standards required and to hear about how much she loves her job. Thanks so much to Katherine for giving up her time to come in. You can see some photos here: https://www.glassary.argyll-bute.sch.uk/world-of-work-visit-from-katherine/

International Day of Happiness/Children’s Rights Assembly

As part of our work to understand and support Children’s Rights, we attended an online assembly on Wednesday to celebrate International Day of Happiness. This was hosted by the Children’s Commissioner Nicola Killean and joined by many other primary schools across Scotland. In the session, the children:

  • learned more about rights, with a focus on good mental health
  • enjoyed a laughter yoga session altogether
  • share their thoughts and find out from other children what can make us feel good

World of Work Part 2

The Primary 4 to 7 class had an excellent trip to the Fire Station in Lochgilphead on Friday and there will be more information about this and pictures next week. Many thanks indeed to the 2 pupils who wrote to Watch Commander Duncan Litster to see whether a visit might be possible, to Mrs McClymont for organising the trip and to Fire Fighters Adam Barclay, Duncan MacBrayne and Taylor MacDonald for making the visit so informative and enjoyable.

Comic Relief

We have had the most wonderful time today wearing red and doing funny things for money, as well as thinking about the reasons that we need to raise money for this amazing cause: https://www.glassary.argyll-bute.sch.uk/comic-relief-2025/

Our link is still open if you can give, no matter how small your donation:
