Glassary Primary School

Week ending 8th March

Mrs F (4)

It was fantastic for us to see you face to face or talk on the phone about your child’s progress this week at our parents’ evenings. We are very proud of the progress that every single child has made this session and know you will be too.

Upcoming events

Don’t forget to check the school calendar for upcoming events in addition to those detailed below:

Fabulous work

Don’t forget to look at the class Seesaw accounts to see evidence of your child’s fantastic work, as well as ideas for how you can support learning at home and details of homework.

Whole School Trip

As I mentioned in last week’s update, we are very excited that our trip on Friday 22nd March (will be to the Blair Drummond Safari Park!

We will travel on a West Coast Motors Coach, leaving at 9am and returning at 6pm. Consent forms for the children will be issued next week.

Many thanks to those of you who have confirmed that you will be able to join us. If you have not let me know yet where you are able OR not able to come, please email me at lena.carter@argyll-bute.gov.uk  by Monday 11th March as we need to book places.

It would be great if each child could have an adult to accompany them on the day as this is a really great opportunity to do some fun family learning together. If you as a parent are unable to come, perhaps you can suggest that your child invites another family member, such as a grandparent. If this is not possible, we will make sure that a member of staff is allocated to your child for the learning activities.

Please remember that our amazing parent council is fully funding this trip, so there will be nothing to pay.

Red Nose Day

On Friday 15th March we are doing something funny for money.  There will be joke-telling, surprise activities and everyone is invited to wear pyjamas or comfortable clothes, if they wish.

Please give what you can, via our fundraising page here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/glassary-primary-1709912913453?utm_medium=fundraising&utm_content=page%2Fglassary-primary-1709912913453&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=pfp-share

Staffing

We said a very fond farewell to Mrs Flett on Wednesday as she finished ahead of starting her new job next week. The children made beautiful cards, wrote wonderful messages, recited fabulous poetry and even sang a song! You can check out some pictures in the Gallery section of our website here: Farewell to Mrs Flett – Glassary Primary School

I am absolutely delighted that we have appointed Mrs Lisa Speechley to our permanent Classroom Assistant vacancy in Glassary which she will take on in addition to her Clerical Officer post. Many congratulations to Lisa – we are very lucky that we will have her in the school all day from now on.

I am also delighted that Mrs Caroline Hill will be joining us after Easter as a temporary ASN assistant. Caroline has extensive experience of working with children with additional support and sensory needs and will be a real asset to our team.
